About
The Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection was set up in Nagaland during the latter part of the year 1968 under the Nagaland Weights & Measures Act, 1968 with the nomenclature “Weights & Measures” Department. The erstwhile “Weights & Measures” Department was renamed as Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection Department vide Notification No.AR/CAN-5/90 dated 21-06-95, and has been functioning as a full-fledged department with the Commissioner & Secretary to the Govt. of Nagaland, Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection Department as the Administrative Head and Additional Controller & HoD had been declared as the Head of Department vide Notification No. LM/CP-1/4/2000 dated 06-08-2013.
